CAREERS AT QUANTUM MISSION CRITICAL

Work with us at QMC.

We’re commissioning engineers who enjoy getting to the bottom of a problem and helping the team solve it. Our work takes us into data centres across Europe and the UK, from the first design review to the final test.

If that sounds like your kind of work, we’d like to hear from you.

Based in the Netherlands. Supporting projects across Europe and the UK.

Build your career with QMC. Attitude. Work ethic. Room to grow. An engineer in QMC-branded safety equipment in a data-centre aisle.

35+

Years of combined industry experience across our core founders.

Training

A structured programme to develop your commissioning knowledge and practical skills.

L0-L6

From reviewing the design to testing systems and handing them over.

THE WORK

Where could you fit in?

We’d like to hear from people across electrical, mechanical and controls commissioning, as well as commissioning management and QA/QC.

You may already know data centres well, or have experience in another demanding engineering environment.

01

Electrical commissioning

UPS systems, generators, transformers and MV/LV distribution. The work ranges from checking installation readiness to witnessing load tests and proving transfer and recovery sequences.

02

Mechanical commissioning & DLC

Chillers, fan walls, pumps, air handling and CDUs. We follow the installation through flushing, water-quality checks, TAB and performance testing, paying close attention to how the cooling system works as a whole.

03

Controls & integrated testing

Point checks, alarms, interlocks and BMS/EPMS interfaces. This is where an understanding of the operating sequence matters, particularly when testing how systems respond to failures and recover.

04

Commissioning management & QA/QC

Planning tests, coordinating vendors and helping site teams get ready. Good commissioning management keeps the schedule, technical work and outstanding issues connected, so everyone knows what needs to happen next.

HOW WE WORK

Trust, but Verify.

We ask questions and speak up when something doesn’t look right. We also stay involved to help put it right.

That means working closely with designers, contractors, vendors and operators, sharing what we know and being clear about what still needs to be resolved.

Know what you’re testing

A checklist is a starting point. We want to understand why a system behaves as it does, what the design requires and what a test result is telling us.

Help find the answer

Raising an issue is only part of the job. We work with the people responsible to agree a practical solution and check that it works.

Keep people informed

Clear records and timely conversations make site work easier. Share a concern early, explain it plainly and make sure the next person has what they need.

Look out for each other

Safe testing takes preparation. We respect permits, isolation boundaries and live operations, and make sure the people affected understand the plan.

SPECIALIST EXPERIENCE

Work on systems worth understanding.

Direct Liquid Cooling is a growing part of our work. It brings together facility water, CDUs, rack circuits and controls, with plenty to get right between the design drawing and a working installation.

Our team gets involved in pipework and material selection, installation checks, cleaning and flushing, water quality, TAB and controls tuning.

We use thermal cameras, data loggers and power quality monitors to investigate what’s happening on site. We also develop our own commissioning and reporting tools where they help the team spend less time on administration and more time on delivery.

GROW WITH QMC

Attitude matters most.

Your attitude and work ethic matter most to us. We value people who prepare properly, take responsibility, support their colleagues and are willing to learn. Technical experience is valuable, and the way you approach the work is what makes you a good fit for QMC.

ALREADY IN COMMISSIONING?

We’d like to hear your story.

Tell us which systems you know, the responsibilities you’ve held and what you enjoy about the work. A project or a difficult problem you helped solve gives us a useful starting point.

COMING FROM ANOTHER DISCIPLINE?

Your experience may be a good fit.

You might come from electrical, mechanical or controls engineering, construction or operations. Tell us what you know well and why commissioning interests you. Relevant practical experience matters.

A structured training programme

QMC has a strong, structured training programme to develop our engineers’ commissioning knowledge and practical skills. This includes training and support to achieve ASHRAE’s BCxP certification. You do not need to hold BCxP certification before applying. We want people to ask questions, build their confidence and take on new responsibilities as they develop.

Much of our work is on site, and travel is often part of the role. Let us know where you’re based and what works for you so we can have an open conversation from the start.

BEFORE YOU GET IN TOUCH

A few things you might want to know.

We’re inviting expressions of interest across our commissioning disciplines rather than advertising a particular vacancy. Send us an introduction and tell us what you’re looking for.

It helps, but we’re also interested in relevant experience from other engineering environments. Tell us about the systems you’ve worked on and the part you played.

No. You do not need to hold BCxP certification to apply. QMC provides training and support for its engineers to achieve ASHRAE’s BCxP certification as part of our structured development programme. Tell us about your practical experience and any qualifications you hold. Your attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn matter most.

Our base is in the Netherlands, with projects across Europe and the UK. The location, travel and working arrangements depend on the assignment. We’ll discuss those with you before you make a commitment.
