Direct Liquid Cooling Specialists
DLC design consultancy, construction implementation and commissioning for data centres across Europe and the UK.
Commissioning Expertise
From Customer Design to Verified Cooling Performance
Trust, but Verify. Quantum MC brings extensive experience in implementing customer Direct Liquid Cooling designs and verifying the complete cooling system. We support owners, designers, contractors and equipment vendors from design development through construction, testing and operational handover.
Our work connects facility water systems, coolant distribution units (CDUs), technology cooling loops and rack interfaces. We establish responsibilities at each interface and define the evidence needed to demonstrate that installation, water quality, hydraulic performance and controls meet the agreed requirements.
DLC is part of our full Levels 0-6 commissioning lifecycle support and verification. The project commissioning plan defines the level boundaries, acceptance criteria, witness points and release requirements.
Clean systems. Proven flow. Stable controls. A traceable record of performance from design to handover.
Every interface.
Verified.
From facility water to the rack, QMC connects design intent, construction quality and proven performance.
Design & facility interface
Review design temperatures, available flow and pressure against the agreed duty.
Verify isolation, instrumentation and the facility-to-CDU interface.
Establish acceptance criteria and responsibilities before installation.
Interface matrix, design review comments and agreed commissioning plan.
TCS: technology cooling system. FWS: facility water system.
Indicative liquid-to-liquid CDU arrangement. Equipment, redundancy and acceptance criteria are project-specific.
Specialist DLC Expertise
Specialist DLC Engineering Scope
We translate the customer’s design into a buildable, testable installation. Scope is agreed around the actual equipment, coolant specification, operating strategy and project programme.
Design & Interface Review
Review the cooling architecture, CDU duties and facility-to-technology interfaces. Check design flow rates, temperature and pressure requirements, isolation, drain and vent points, instrumentation, leak detection and access for testing and maintenance. Define acceptance criteria with the customer and equipment vendors.
Construction Implementation
Bring practical site experience to pipe material selection and compatibility, jointing methods, supports, cleanliness during installation and identification of flow paths. Review installation against the approved design, including CDU connections, rack distribution, hose routing, valve access and inspection records.
Flushing, Cleaning & Water Quality
Plan and verify rigorous flushing and cleaning before equipment is released for operation. Agree temporary connections, isolation boundaries, sampling points and acceptance criteria with the customer and vendors. Review water or coolant quality results against the project specification and retain a traceable record of acceptance.
Testing, Adjusting & Balancing
Carry out testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) across the agreed cooling network. Establish and record flow rates, differential pressures and balancing settings at CDU and distribution interfaces. Verify hydraulic and thermal performance against design conditions and representative load scenarios.
Controls Commissioning & Tuning
Check sensor readings, point-to-point interfaces, alarms and interlocks. Commission and tune CDU, pump and valve sequences for stable pressure and temperature control. Verify duty/standby changeover, communication with the building management system and recovery following agreed fault conditions.
Integrated Testing & Handover
Demonstrate how DLC operates with critical power, facility cooling and controls during normal operation and agreed failure scenarios. Track defects through correction and retest. Assemble final settings, test results, water-quality records and operating information into a usable handover package.
Engineering That Fits the Project
Bespoke Methods. Practical Value.
We analyse the customer’s requirements, programme and existing systems before developing the working method. Our commissioning software can include scheduling platforms integrated with Primavera P6, bespoke ACMS for checklists, tags and issue tracking, and digital handover platforms for O&M manuals, flushing and water-quality records, TAB results and final control settings.
Combine DLC delivery with our data centre design consultancy and independent QA/QC inspection for a consistent approach from the design review to installation readiness and final verification.
To define the scope, share the cooling schematic, equipment schedule, coolant requirements, current construction status and target commissioning dates. We will identify the interfaces and evidence needed for your project.
Trust, but Verify.
